Description of activity
Students research an animal that lives in the rainforest. They select relevant facts and write an information report. Students edit and publish their report.
Context
Students have been participating in an integrated unit of work on rainforests. During this unit, they studied language forms and features of informative texts. Students read a range of factual texts and analysed the language features required to present information. Students have jointly and independently composed informative texts to present information on areas of study.
Outcomes
EN3-2A composes, edits and presents well-structured and coherent texts
EN3-4A draws on appropriate strategies to accurately spell familiar and unfamiliar words when composing texts
EN3-6B uses knowledge of sentence structure, grammar, punctuation and vocabulary to respond to and compose clear and cohesive texts in different media and technologies
Criteria for assessing learning

Students will be assessed on their ability to:
- Produce a well-structured information report
- Use sentence structure vocabulary, grammatical features and punctuation conventions appropriate for an informative text in the form of an information report
- Use strategies to spell familiar and unfamiliar words.
