History K–10 Syllabus (2012)
For Kindergarten to Year 10, educational programs are based on the outcomes of syllabuses. The content provides detail about how the outcomes can be interpreted and used, and the intended learning appropriate for the stage. In considering meaningful learning within local contexts, teachers will make decisions about the sequence, the emphasis to be given to particular areas of content, and any adjustments required based on the needs, interests and abilities of their students.

New syllabuses to be implemented from 2027:
2025 and 2026 – Plan and prepare to teach the new syllabuses
2027 – Start teaching the new syllabuses
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts.
Detailed implementation information, including key features and resources, is available on the HSIE Syllabus development page.
