As an Accreditation Supervisor, you play an important role in supporting teachers to develop their practice to achieve Proficient Teacher accreditation. An Accreditation Supervisor is a teacher accredited at Proficient Teacher level or above.
Accreditation Supervisors no longer need to complete a Proficient Teacher Accreditation Report as part of a teacher’s application for Proficient Teacher.
Accreditation Supervisors now declare whether a teacher’s practice meets the Standards for Proficient Teacher. More information is available in the Applying for Proficient Teacher procedure.
Accreditation Supervisors support provisionally or conditionally accredited teachers to develop their practice - aligned with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (the Standards) at Proficient Teacher.

Proficient Teacher accreditation information for Accreditation Supervisors gives detailed step by step guidance to help you support teachers.
The NSW Teacher Accreditation Manual (the TA Manual) is being implemented in stages.
Interim procedures on how you can support a teacher to apply for Proficient Teacher accreditation are available until the TA Manual comes into full effect during 2024.
An Accreditation Supervisor must be accredited at Proficient Teacher or above. An accredited teacher at Proficient Teacher or above who is on a Leave of Absence or accredited as Non-practising may be appointed as an Accreditation Supervisor if there is no one else available.
Once you have been nominated, you will see an ‘Accreditation Supervisor’ dashboard in your NESA online account (eTAMS). When you are allocated a teacher, this will appear in your dashboard as a task.
When you accept the task in your NESA online account (eTAMS) the teacher will be notified.
We strongly recommend you complete NESA’s online course for Accreditation Supervisors to learn more about your role and responsibilities as an Accreditation Supervisor, and to access guides and resources to help you.
We also recommend you complete NESA’s online course Making Consistent Proficient Teacher Accreditation Decisions to learn more about the characteristics of effective documentary evidence to support you making judgements about a teacher’s documentary evidence.
