Step 2:
Gain the student’s attention and ask the question using oral language only.
Give the student at least 10 seconds to respond before repeating the question.
If the student fails to answer several examples from the same category of
Question form

reframe the questions as cloze statements, eg for the question ‘What’s that?’, the teacher
might say ‘It’s a …’. If the student cannot complete the cloze statement, it will confirm that
the student has difficulty comprehending the question form.
Step 3:
Record the student’s response in the
Student Response
column on Form 6.
Step 4:
Record any additional assistance required by the student or contextual supports
in the
Supports
column.
