Teaching interstate

If you are a teacher who is accredited in NSW, and you are planning to work in another Australian state or territory, you can put your NSW accreditation on hold by going on a leave of absence.

How to apply for a leave of absence.

While on a leave of absence you will not be:

  • required to maintain your NSW accreditation
  • required to complete any mandatory professional development
  • charged fees by NESA (previously BOSTES).

Contact the state you will work in

You will also need to contact the teaching regulatory body in the state or territory you plan to work in for information about their own registration requirements and procedures.
