Languages K–10 Syllabus Development: French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Korean and Spanish

The NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) has developed draft syllabuses for French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Korean and Spanish. In developing the draft syllabuses, NESA has followed its established syllabus development process. The Languages K–10 Framework, finalised in 2016 provided the blueprint for the development of the syllabuses. Chinese and Japanese were the first two syllabuses developed using the framework.

Consultation on the French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Korean and Spanish draft syllabuses will occur from Tuesday 13 June 2017 until Monday 7 August 2017. See the schedule for consultation meetings to register your attendance.

Consultation opportunities

NESA seeks your feedback on the draft syllabuses (PDF format) which can be viewed or downloaded. Feedback may be provided by:

  • Attending a consultation meeting
  • Completing the survey
  • Providing a written submission.

The document introducing the draft syllabuses is provided below and is designed to assist teachers with completing the online surveys. It provides background information and an overview of the key features of the draft syllabuses, including the proposed course structure and course content.
