K-10 syllabus development

The NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) has developed draft syllabuses for Science and Technology K–6, Technology Mandatory Years 7–8 and PDHPE K–10. In developing the draft syllabuses, NESA has followed its established syllabus development process. The Directions for Syllabus Development documents, finalised in 2016 provided a blueprint for the development of the syllabuses.

Consultation on draft syllabuses will occur from Monday 6 March 2017 until Friday 5 May 2017.  See the schedule for consultation meetings to register your attendance.

Consultation opportunities

NESA seeks your feedback on the draft syllabuses, which can be viewed or downloaded.

Feedback may be provided by:

  • attending a consultation meeting
  • completing the online survey
  • providing a written submission.

The documents introducing the draft syllabuses are designed to assist with completing the online surveys. They provide background and an overview of the key features of the draft syllabuses, including the proposed course structure and course content.

Consultation meetings

Consultation meetings are free and will be held at locations across NSW from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. They provide an opportunity to hear from the KLA Inspector about the draft syllabus, discuss ideas with teachers from other schools, and provide group or individual feedback to NESA.

Discussion during consultation meetings will refer directly to the draft syllabus. Please bring a hard copy or electronic copy of the draft syllabus to the consultation meeting.
