Consultation on draft HSC Examination Specifications
Consultation on draft HSC Examination Specifications has begun for new Stage 6 English, Mathematics Standard, Science and History courses.
The NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) has developed a range of proposals for examination specifications. These proposals address the Stronger HSC Standards reforms to redesign examinations to reduce predictability and pre-prepared responses, and to focus on students’ application of knowledge, understanding and skills.
The final HSC Examination Specifications will be published in Term 3, 2017 with materials including sample examination questions, sample answers, marking guidelines and Performance Band Descriptions.
The new syllabuses will be examined for the first time in 2019.
Feedback about the draft examination specifications can be provided through online surveys and written submissions. There is one online survey for each KLA. Survey statements provide a summary of the survey questions and may be used for group discussion prior to completing a survey or providing a written submission. Consultation closes Monday 12 June 2017.

Consultation on draft HSC Examination Specifications for Mathematics Advanced, Mathematics Extension 1 and Mathematics Extension 2 will occur following the release of the syllabuses. These courses will be examined for the first time in 2020.
